Safety Town now features rail safety!

Great news for NSW teachers! The road safety program for primary schools, ‘Safety Town’, was recently updated to include rail safety content, including tram tracks and level crossings. You’ll now see this awesome rail safety content integrated into Safety Town across all stages. We worked in collaboration with Transport for NSW Centre for Road Safety, with endorsement from the NSW Department of Education, Catholic Schools and Association of Independent Schools to make this happen. We hope this gives students another avenue to learn how to be safe near trains, trams and tracks whilst travelling to and from school, on weekends, and when travelling with families during school holidays.

Visit Safety Town to view and download the resources.

Wow! Over the past 4 years, 254,000 school students have experienced learning with our online resources. We’ve had nearly 50,000 page vies on our website, and 8500 of our resources have been downloaded. 6000 teachers got their students involved with Rail Safety Week through our competitions and other activities. We’re thrilled that so many school students have experienced quality rail safety education!

The serious injury rates for pedestrians seriously injured in a collision with a train show that 35% are young people aged 0-24 years old.

Let’s work together to reduce these statistics to zero! Education is one very important part of the solution.
